Skin Checks

GREY.jpg

Living in Dunsborough and the surrounding region, we are blessed with an amazing outdoor environment for us all to enjoy and explore. With our sun exposure we are at risk of developing skin cancer. Early detection of skin cancer is key to minimise impact and achieve better outcomes.

At Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre we offer skin checks. Our doctors have undergone additional training and utilise photo-dermatoscopy to ensure early and accurate detection of skin cancer.

Health Assessments

Most health assessments take between 20-40 minutes and involve a number of questions relating to your general health, as well as a series of simple tests. These may include:

  • Vision check

  • Hearing check

  • Skin check

  • Urine sample

  • Blood pressure check

  • Review of current medications

  • Immunisation status

  • Height and weight measurements

  • A look at your diet, exercise, mobility, family and social relationships and mental health

HEALTH ASSESSMENTS

Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre offers annual Health Assessments for those aged 45-49 years old, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people over the age of 75 years old.

Health Assessments are performed by one of our Practice Nurses and then reviewed by your Doctor. The assessment represents an opportunity to consider areas of your health that may not have recently been covered during routine medical appointments. They allow us to identify any existing or potential health issues, so that you can make more informed decisions about your health.

The focus of Health Assessments is preventative care – solving problems before they happen, and identifying things that can be done to help you live a better life for as long as possible. At Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre, we bulk bill the Over 75 Health Assessment so there is no cost to you.

Telehealth

GREY.jpg

+ What type of Telehealth appointment can I book?

Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre offers 2 types of telehealth appointments: phone or video telehealth.

The Medicare rebate you will receive after your consultation will vary depending on the type of telehealth appointment you book.

+ Video or 'FaceTime' Telehealth consults

Video telehealth appointments are considered best practice and Medicare offers rebates for a wide range of video telehealth appointment types.

To book video consults via our online booking platform Hotdocs, click here to book. After booking an appointment, you will receive an email with easy to follow instructions about how the video consult will be conducted.

+ What to know about Telehealth fees?

To be eligible for MBS funded telehealth service you must have seen your GP or another GP at Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre for a face-to-face appointment at least once in the 12 months prior to the date of your telehealth consultation.

This means that if you haven't attended Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre for a face to face appointment in the previous 12 months, you will incur the full consultation cost and no Medicare rebate can be applied.

+ Telehealth for Patients with Respiratory Symptoms?

If you are experiencing any respiratory symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat etc you will be required to book a Telehealth appointment before you can come in for a face to face appointment. If you require further review your doctor will arrange this with you over the phone. You will only be charged one private fee, even if two consultations are required.

Patients who present to the practice with respiratory symptoms are required to have had a negative COVID-19 PCR test within the last 3 days or negative RAT test within 1 day.

If you need a script following your Telehealth consultation

If you require a script following your telehealth consultation we can arrange for it to be texted or emailed to you, or emailed directly to your preferred pharmacy.

To increase convenience and ensure a safe environment for our patients, Cape Naturaliste Medical Centre offers telehealth appointments. We preferentially conduct these appointments via video consult and can use this format to effectively address a range of patient presentations and requests.

Please note that for some presentations, a Telehealth assessment will not be sufficient and you may be asked to come in for a face-to-face consultation.
